Caught up in the Moment
Recently I started a small video and photography business called “Caught up in the Moment”. I have used my knowledge of video production to shoot several short video segments for my sponsors. I was given the opportunity recently to go down to the Toyota Texas Bass Classic at Lake Fork Texas. I was to go there to shoot video for a good friend of mine, Todd Barnes, the owner of Omega Custom Tackle. We were shooting video of the Omega Custom Tackle prostaff Derek Remitz, Craig Dowling, Dave Parsons, Travis Rhule and Jason Welch. We were also going to promote the new soon to be released 1oz Pro-Mega jig.
Let me start by saying that Toyota has spared no expense. If you even get the chance to go to this event, I would highly recommend it. For roughly $35 you get a three day pass to talk to your favorite pro’s, listen to great music at live concerts and see different vendors in the fishing industry all in one place. If you get bored with that you can go out and fish at an awesome fishery.
The first day we were there, we were able to watch several teams fish. As we watched the pros fish the thought of 10lb bass would not escape us. We had to succumb to our temptation and go fishing, so we tried some of Todd’s favorite spots. In the process, with respect, we also stayed out of the way of the professionals fishing this event. The fish were not as responsive to our lures as they would fall victim to the pros choices of swimbaits and crankbaits or perhaps it was their talent. By the end of the day Dave Wolak and Mike McClellan would have a substantial lead over the rest of the crowd.
As we headed to the cabins so graciously rented for us by Omega prostaffer and Lake Fork guide Dave Parsons (817-946-4636), we were treated to a trailer located at Benner’s Cabins and Guide Services (903-383-7221). This was a home away from home. These cabins and trailers were immaculate and well maintained. They take a lot of pride in catering to fisherman. The refrigerator was stocked with a country breakfast of bacon and eggs. There was even a basket of brownies waiting for us on the kitchen table. I would highly recommend staying with them if you are ever in Lake Fork and are in need of a cabin. They are located only 15 minutes from the lake
Over the course of the next two days we managed to get the video footage that we needed for some up and coming videos on www.OmegaCustomTackle.com. We managed to sit down with Derek Remitz and shoot a video segment about his signature series football jig. Stay tuned to Omega Custom Tackle for these videos.
I cannot thank Todd Barnes enough for the opportunity to go with him to this event. I look forward to next year. Maybe we can hook up with one of the 10 pounders that some of the pros were catching.
